As companies increasingly look beyond traditional marketing to drive long-term business growth, experienced brand leaders are finding themselves at the centre of broader strategic conversations. The latest example comes from the consumer durables sector, where industry veteran Deba Ghoshal has joined Bosch Home Comfort Group India as Leadership and Business Advisor for Marketing Growth.
The appointment marks Ghoshal’s first major professional move since stepping down from Voltas after a 14-year stint that helped shape one of India’s most successful consumer durables brands. At Bosch Home Comfort Group, his role is expected to focus on strengthening marketing-led growth initiatives while supporting the company’s broader business ambitions in India’s rapidly evolving home comfort market.
Ghoshal brings with him more than three decades of experience spanning consumer durables, automobiles and home appliances. Prior to joining Voltas in 2011, he held leadership roles at companies including LG Electronics, Honda and Hero Electric. His arrival at Voltas coincided with a critical phase for the Tata-owned company as it sought to strengthen its position in the highly competitive air-conditioning market.
During his tenure, Voltas emerged as the market leader in room air conditioners, a position it maintained for over a decade. Industry reports indicate that under Ghoshal’s leadership, the company strengthened its brand equity significantly while expanding its market presence across categories. He also played a role in the launch and growth of Voltas Beko, the company’s home appliances joint venture, while overseeing business verticals beyond core marketing functions.

Among his most recognised contributions was the development of the “Mr Murthy” campaign platform, which became one of the most enduring brand properties in the consumer durables category. Over the years, he also helped steer the launch of several flagship products, including Voltas’ All Weather AC, Adjustable AC, PureAir AC and SmartAir AC ranges.
His move comes at a time when marketing leaders are increasingly being viewed as business architects rather than communication specialists. Across industries, organisations are turning to executives with strong consumer understanding and brand-building expertise to influence growth, innovation and customer experience strategies.
For Bosch Home Comfort Group, the appointment aligns with the company’s efforts to strengthen its position in the home comfort and climate solutions space. Globally, the Bosch Home Comfort Group continues to focus on growth, transformation and expansion across multiple markets, with Asia-Pacific identified as a key region for future opportunities.
The development also reflects a broader shift within the consumer durables industry. As products become increasingly comparable in terms of technology and performance, companies are relying more heavily on customer experience, brand trust and emotional connection to differentiate themselves. This has elevated the strategic importance of marketing leaders who understand both consumer behaviour and business growth.
