E.ON has selected Capsol Technologies to carry out a feasibility study assessing carbon capture deployment at its biomass and waste-to-energy operations in Norrköping, Sweden. 

The study will evaluate the potential installation of a system capable of capturing up to 500,000 metric tons of CO2 annually, supporting E.ON’s broader decarbonisation strategy.

The project will be delivered in collaboration with a strategic engineering partner and will draw on experience from previous carbon capture projects. 

Capsol secured the contract through a competitive tender process, highlighting growing industry interest in cost-effective carbon capture solutions for biomass and waste-to-energy facilities.

If developed, the project could contribute to reducing emissions from energy generation while supporting the expansion of carbon capture technologies in the Nordic region. 

Biomass and waste-to-energy plants are increasingly viewed as attractive candidates for carbon capture due to their potential to deliver both emissions reductions and, in some cases, carbon removal.

The feasibility study also strengthens Capsol’s position in the growing market for carbon capture applications in biomass and waste-to-energy sectors, where operators are seeking scalable solutions to meet climate targets and support long-term decarbonisation efforts.
