It may be time to hit pause before you start prepping your sides for all those summer BBQs, as a recent recall could affect what ends up on your picnic table.
BEF Foods, Inc. has voluntarily recalled its Park St. Deli Macaroni & Cheese due to the undeclared presence of soy lecithin, a major allergen.
According to the recall notice, 58,405 cases—equal to 525,645 individual packages—are affected and were distributed to Aldi stores nationwide. The refrigerated pasta dish comes in a 20-ounce plastic tub inside a paperboard sleeve.

For people with soy allergies or sensitivities, consuming the product could cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. The meal was originally recalled back in late March, but it wasn’t until this past week that the FDA officially classified it as a Class II recall.

If you or someone you know has the recalled macaroni in their fridge, do not consume it—especially if you have a soy allergy. Instead, throw it away or return it to your local Aldi for a refund.
At this time, there is no additional information about when the product was sold in stores. But given the size of the recall, there’s a decent chance some of the tubs are still sitting in home fridges or freezers right now.
