The craze of blindly buying boxes full of surprise goodies has now hit grocery stores.
German grocery store chain Aldi is hopping on the popular trend, made famous on TikTok, of consumers unwrapping surprise gifts from fashion, beauty, and health and wellness retailers.
The “Aldi Blind Box” will be available for consumers to claim for free on a first-come, first-served basis. A new box will be released daily from June 22-25.
Each day at noon during the giveaway, shoppers can head to Aldi’s website to claim that day’s box, which will then be shipped to their door. Boxes are available only while supplies last.
Themes include snacks, fiber, protein and a mystery box of Aldi fan favorites. Consumers can follow Aldi’s Instagram to find out which theme will be released next.
“The Aldi Blind Box taps into the excitement our fans already feel walking our aisles,” Bridget Kozlowski, director of communications for Aldi, said in the news release. “Our shoppers come to Aldi for value, but they also come for discovery.”
Local stores will not stock the blind boxes; however, after the boxes are released, shoppers will be able to find all of the items in-store at a later date.
Aldi has dozens of stores around South Carolina, with a new one proposed in Charleston’s West Ashley suburb.
