A beloved product has returned to Aldi shelves. But finding the Grill Master Collection can be easier said than done. After a long wait, one woman recently got lucky.
Kati Pederson (@rockinrefreshments), an Ohio food-hack reviewer and content creator who owns a mobile dirty soda trailer, Rockin Refreshments, posted a video discussing the Aldi Grill Master Collection, which recently returned to Aldi stores for the summer.
Pederson praised the collection and said she couldn’t believe she found the hard-to-find collection.
As of this writing, Pederson’s post has received more than 1.1 million views.
What is the Aldi Grill Master Collection?
Aldi’s Grill Master collection is a limited edition summer product that contains a number of flash-frozen meat selections.
Each box has two USDA choice boneless beef ribeye steaks, two USDA choice boneless beef New York strip steaks, two USDA choice bacon-wrapped beef top sirloin steaks, eight beef burgers, two boneless pork chops and two boneless skinless chicken breasts, according to Aldi. The box costs $65 and weighs a little over seven pounds.
Other fans like AldiReviewer have praised the box. The publication reports that the box’s items have dramatically improved in quality over the years. Southern Living said that the deal is a “a must-have for meat lovers” and a “fan favorite.”
What does Pederson like about the box?
Pederson told The Big Lead that she purchased her box at an Aldi in Westlake, Ohio.
“I had been keeping an eye out for it and was excited to finally find one available. There were only two boxes left when I found them, and while I would have loved to buy more, I didn’t want to take the last one from someone else who was hoping to find one,” she said.
In her video, she said that she felt like she was opening a big public relations package when she went through the box. “I bought this myself, and it’s awesome,” she said.
She added that she’s tried multiple meats and she has been “impressed by the quality.”
“The steaks have been excellent, and we also loved the burgers and pork chops. Honestly, every protein we’ve tried so far has exceeded my expectations. In my opinion, the quality is even better than the Grill Master Collection Aldi offered last year,” she said.
She also said she would recommend the box.
“For anyone considering purchasing the $64.99 box, I would tell them that it’s an incredible value. The quality of the meat has been impressive, and the variety makes it easy to enjoy multiple meals from a single purchase. Based on what we’ve tried so far, I definitely feel like it’s worth the price,” she said.
Aldi didn’t reply to an email seeking comment.
A lot of meat for the price
Some viewers couldn’t necessarily discuss the quality of the box, but they emphasized that the price was extremely good.
“NY Strip runs between $15-$18 per pound, with a two pack running around $25. At that price you nearly have the value of the box with the 4 steaks,” one viewer said. “Add in the filet mignons and you are basically getting the pork, chicken, and burger patties for free. I realize people think it is overpriced, and it is, if you are basing it on past prices.”
USDA choice meat can cost anywhere from $10 to $15 per pound, according to Southern Living. Latest Cost estimates that a New York Strip costs $8 to $25 per pound. Multiple viewers emphasized that they felt the deal was worth it alone for the price.
Other viewers praised the quality of the meat.
“I bought this week, and the quality is great! As a single person, I appreciate that the steaks, chops, and chicken are individually packaged and sealed, and the burgers are packaged in twos. It makes cooking for one so easy!” said one.
