ALPHARETTA, Ga. — A developer is proposing the construction of homes on 6.46 acres of undeveloped land intended for offices along Lakeview Parkway.
At its Feb. 23 meeting, the Alpharetta City Council will consider an amendment to the Lakeview Park Master Plan to allow 25 standalone homes and 27 townhomes. The plan currently allows for 200,000 square feet of office space within a three-story building.

The homes, which would be for sale, are proposed because of changing market conditions that have resulted in limited demand for new offices throughout Alpharetta, developer Traton said.
About 25 percent of offices in the city are currently vacant.
“Meanwhile, demand for residential products — particularly ‘lock and go’ detached and attached housing — has risen sharply,” Traton said in its application. “The proposed program responds directly to these changed conditions and activates a site that has remained undeveloped.”
Located about 1,500 feet from Ga. 400 at Haynes Bridge Road, the site is near the 360 Tech Village area and the proposed Northwinds Summit mixed-use center.
