The No. 48 Mercedes-AMG regains the lead in the 24 Hours of Spa as the race enters its final six hours.
As is often the case, the 24 Hours of Spa will be decided in a sprint finish, with the #48 Mercedes-AMG currently driven by Luca Stolz leading by less than a second over the #51 Ferrari of Tommaso Mosca and less than two seconds over the #80 Porsche of Bastian Buus. The Italian driver took second place overall in the final moments of the eighteenth hour of the race, with a decisive overtake at Les Combes.
After witnessing several different strategies, the last two hours have essentially reset the order, except for the #32 BMW, which is about fifteen minutes behind its rivals at the front. With the maximum stint length being 61 minutes (without a safety car period) or 65 minutes (with a safety car period), this could prove crucial in the final hours…
The top five consists of three Porsches, a Ferrari, and a Mercedes-AMG, which is leading the pack. The Silver Cup battle was punctuated, just before the end of the sixth hour, by a collision between the #65 Ford and the #5 McLaren, which were fighting and collided at the Bus Stop chicane.
