Porsche has announced that Cupra Kiro will remain a customer of its powertrain for the start of Formula E’s Gen4 era.
The Silverstone-based outfit became a Porsche customer team at the beginning of the Gen3 Evo era last season, albeit using an older version of the German manufacturer’s powertrain.
However, for Gen4, Cupra Kiro will use Porsche’s latest Gen4 package. Cupra Kiro becomes the second customer team to reveal its powertrain supplier for next season.
It was announced ahead of last weekend’s Shanghai E-Prix that Envision would remain with Jaguar for Gen4, while Andretti is set to switch from being a Porsche customer team to Nissan.
Cupra Kiro has enjoyed a solid campaign with four rounds remaining, although the results have been mixed across either side of the garage.
Dan Ticktum, who remains without a seat for next season, has been excellent over a single lap in qualifying, reaching the latter stages of the Duels on several occasions.
When it comes to the races, however, it is rookie Pepe Martà who has delivered the team’s biggest points hauls and standout performances, claiming podiums in Monaco and Sanya. He is expected to remain with the outfit next season.
