Deloitte Tohmatsu has begun offering an integrated solution for Japanese companies using SAP Cloud ERP to accelerate enterprise resource planning, or ERP, modernization, the group said on July 23.
The service combines Deloitte’s global industry knowledge, implementation assets, accelerators and a standardized delivery model to help companies move more quickly to SAP Cloud ERP. Deloitte Tohmatsu said the offering is intended to shorten time-to-value while creating a foundation for continuous improvement and longer-term business transformation.
The solution is aimed at industries including automotive, chemicals, retail and consumer goods. It is designed to improve efficiency in core business processes while supporting faster innovation.
Deloitte Tohmatsu said the service can start operating SAP Cloud ERP in as little as eight weeks. It connects end-to-end functions including sales, procurement, accounting and inventory management through AI-based automation, advanced analytics and pre-integrated links with major systems.
The offering is structured around a fit-to-standard approach and a clean core architecture, terms commonly used in ERP projects to describe minimizing customizations in the core system so upgrades and new functions can be adopted more easily. The service is designed to address multiple ERP renewal scenarios at Japanese companies, including migration from heavily customized core systems to more scalable platforms, migration from aging SAP systems to the latest SAP Cloud ERP, and the build-out of two-tier ERP structures linked to mergers and acquisitions, new businesses, carve-outs and overseas expansion. Two-tier ERP generally refers to a structure in which a group uses different ERP systems at headquarters and subsidiaries or business units.
Deloitte Tohmatsu also said it will support clients after deployment, including user adoption, operations and improvement work. The group will draw on about 5,000 SAP implementation support personnel in Japan and a global delivery network of about 30,000 SAP professionals.
Many companies have expanded and customized ERP systems over years, raising operating costs, limiting data use and making it harder to respond quickly to regulatory changes and shifts in business conditions. Demand for cloud-based ERP has grown as companies seek standardized processes and a base for introducing newer technologies such as AI.
