German Motorcycles Market looks recovering. The start of 2026 is more encouraging and sales figures reported for the first quarter were 42.863 (including EVs and 50cc vehicles), a 15.2% increase from the correspondent period last year.

 

Motorcycles Market Data and Trend

Two-wheeler market in Germany is in a medium term negative funnel, with sales declining both in scooter and motorcycles segment. In 2025 the sales collapsed losing a huge 27.8%, falling below the pre-covid level

Indeed, a weak economy and low consumption rates, with high inflation are not supporting demand for new motorcycles. And considering that the expected push up created by electric vehicles is vanishing after an early start, the market was having difficulties to grow up.

However, in 2025 the demand vanished and all manufacturers reported heavy loses with a market landed at 183.386 units (-27.8%) in the deepest lost reported in this century.

The start of 2026 is more encouraging and sales figures reported for the first quarter were 42.863 (including EVs and 50cc vehicles), a 15.2% increase from the correspondent period last year.

A positive trend is reported in the electric segment as well, with sales volume improved by 56.8%.

Performance of Leading Manufacturers

Looking at top manufacturer’s performance, almost all of them are reporting deep lost.

Following the previous two year lost, finally BMW is back on top of the list, thanks to sales increased 7.6%, while the previous two years leader, Honda, reported a 3.5% lost.

In third place Piaggio is still losing (8.3%) keeping a negative momentum in Europe.

In 4th place Kawasaki (+25.8%) has overtaken  Yamaha (+31.6%).

Behind, Triumph  (+15.5%) and a fast recovering KTM (+84.2%) are ahead of Ducati (+8.7%), Aprilia (+42.9%) and the EV leader, Niu Tech (+114.9%).
