Inter Miami on Sunday provided an injury update on striker German Berterame following his serious injury in Saturday’s MLS game vs. CF Montreal.

The club said in a release that Berterame was discharged from the hospital and returned home after “spending the night under observation at Montreal General Hospital.”

The 27-year-old striker sustained injuries to his left shoulder and nose and will undergo a recovery program to return to the pitch.

Berterame collided heads with Montreal defender Efrain Morales and was knocked unconscious, prompting an ambulance and medical staff to arrive on the field.

Veteran striker Luis Suarez scored the game’s lone goal, a penalty kick in the 81st minute that sealed a 1-0 win. Suarez held up Berterame’s jersey to honor his teammate in the moment.

Lionel Messi is not yet with the team following Argentina’s run to the World Cup final, where the team fell to Spain 1-0 after extra time.

The win vs. Montreal was Miami’s sixth straight victory.
