ALDI is eyeing up possible sites in Hartford for a new supermarket.
Britain’s largest discount supermarket chain has confirmed it is looking to secure a site in the village.
The plans are part of a wider expansion in Cheshire, which could also include Handforth and Widnes.
It is seeking a freehold, leasehold, or long leasehold site in a prominent location in Hartford, with good visibility and access, and is encouraging landowners and agents to come forward with suitable opportunities.
Existing Aldi stores in the area include Northwich, Winsford, Knutsford, Holmes Chapel, and Sandbach.
A spokesman for the German supermarket chain said it is focused on bringing ‘high-quality, affordable food to more communities’, adding the Hartford plans will also create jobs in the area.
Aldi is the UK’s highest-paying supermarket, where store assistants earn from £13.50 an hour, rising further with length of service.
Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, said: “We know how important it is for people to have access to affordable, high-quality food close to where they live, which is why we’re focused on identifying the communities which would benefit most from a new Aldi store.
“Opening new stores in these areas means we can bring great value to more customers, while also creating jobs and offering industry-leading pay.”
The potential Hartford store is part of Aldi’s wider UK expansion, with the supermarket investing more than £370 million in new stores this year as it works towards its long-term target of 1,500 locations nationwide.
