Jetta has previewed the M6, its first all-electric sedan in China.

FAW-Volkswagen’s Jetta brand on Monday previewed the Jetta M6 and released official images of the model, its first all-electric sedan.
The image and video show the vehicle in a purple paint finish that Jetta called “Oriental Purple” on social media.
Jetta also announced a marketing partnership with domestic tea-drink chain ChaPanda, signaling that the model is aimed at younger consumers.
The M6 previously appeared in a regulatory filing published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, with 4 variants listed, all of them battery electric vehicles.
The model measures 4,806 mm in length, 1,868 mm or 1,895 mm in width and 1,500 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
The 2 lower-powered variants have drive motors with a peak output of 113 kW and a top speed of 166 km/h.
The 2 higher-powered variants have a peak output of 145 kW and a top speed of 172 km/h.
The M6’s debut is in line with an earlier timetable. FAW-Volkswagen previously said Jetta’s first EV would make its debut in the third quarter and go on sale in the fourth quarter.
In January, FAW-Volkswagen announced the establishment of a new company for the Jetta brand in Chengdu, Sichuan province — FAW Volkswagen Jetta Automotive Technology Co Ltd.
The restructuring was seen as a key step in strengthening the brand’s competitiveness in China’s new energy vehicle market.
Jetta unveiled a brand revamp plan and a new logo at the Beijing Auto Show in April, while also showcasing the rugged-looking Jetta X concept vehicle.
The brand is targeting the entry-level NEV market at around 100,000 yuan ($14,730) and plans to launch 5 new models by 2028, including 4 NEVs.
Jetta’s medium-term goal is to achieve annual production and sales of about 400,000 to 500,000 vehicles, according to a statement issued in January.
