Volkswagen has added to the current range of specifications available on its T-Roc SUV with a new Match specification.

Popular on other Volkswagen cars, Match brings a high level of equipment for only a small increase over an entry-level version.

The T-Roc Match, for instance, gets 18-inch alloy wheels and heated front seats, alongside a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel and rear privacy glass as standard. You’ll also find Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit Pro system – which puts a high-definition screen ahead of the driver – equipped from the off, as well as a full voice assistance package.

A full navigation system is also included, accessed via a 12.9-inch infotainment display. All cars get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to make smartphone mirroring easier, too. A full suite of safety systems, including lane keeping assist, front cross traffic assist and keyless entry, comes as standard on all Match models as well.

Despite the additional equipment, Match trim commands only a £500 premium over entry-level Life cars which get a lower level of features.

The new T-Roc Match can be equipped with a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid engine – available with either 114bhp or 148bhp – with either option linked to a seven-speed automatic gearbox. Prices for the former start from £32,135, or £34,200 for the latter.

The T-Roc – now in its second generation – remains one of Volkswagen’s most popular models, with more than two million sold worldwide since the model’s debut in 2017. In fact, only the Tiguan has outsold it.
