Patria and KNDS Deutschland Maintenance have signed an agreement to assemble and integrate Patria 6×6 armored personnel carriers in Germany under the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) program.
The agreement supports two contracts awarded to Patria by the German Armed Forces in December 2025.
Serial deliveries are expected to increase in early 2027, with a growing share of production transferred to German facilities from then onward.
KNDS will handle vehicle assembly and final integration as part of a broader effort to establish a domestic production network involving several German suppliers.
Patria will transfer the technical expertise required for local manufacturing.
Launched by Finland and Latvia in 2020, the CAVS provides participating countries with a common Patria 6×6 platform while allowing configurations to be adapted to national requirements.
Vehicles have already been delivered to Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Denmark, and Germany.
Norway and the UK also participate in the program, while Patria 6x6s are in operational use in Ukraine.
The CAVS program also received 60 million euros ($70 million) through the European Defence Industry Reinforcement through Common Procurement Act, an EU initiative supporting joint defense purchases by member states.
Recent Armored Vehicle Programs
The German production agreement follows other recent developments across Patria’s tracked and wheeled vehicle programs.
Last month, Finland, Norway, and Latvia signed a statement of intent to consider adopting Patria’s TRACKX system and to expand their cooperation on military land mobility.
Developed under the EU-funded Future Highly Mobile Augmented Armored Systems program, the TRACKX is a light tracked armored vehicle intended for operations across difficult terrain.
The agreement allows the three countries to exchange field-trial results, coordinate further development, and explore joint procurement.
In June, Patria and Slovakia revised their production schedule to accelerate deliveries under Slovakia’s 8×8 armored vehicle program, prioritizing infantry fighting vehicle variants.
Ambulance variants were delivered that month, while additional versions remain in production or are undergoing systems integration.
