BERLIN — Local musicians will take the stage in Berlin for a family event raising money for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Grassroots Berlin will host “Band Together” from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23 at The Truck Bar in Berlin.
The event will feature live music, food and games. Performers will include Lee Totten, the Marcia Gamache Band, Aaron Band and Kelsey Rose & Company. The musicians are donating their time to the event fundraiser.
Admission is $5, and children 13 and younger are free. Tickets can be purchased in advance or with cash at the door.
“Band Together is what happens when a community decides to show up. Months of planning, a team that never let up, bands who yes before we finished asking and The Truck Bar opening its doors to us. We’re grateful to every one of them,” said Cornel Boudria, co-founder and executive director of Grassroots Berlin. “Connecticut Children’s is there for families on the hardest days of their lives and supporting that work is exactly why Grassroots Berlin exists. We’re neighbors who meet, organize and act. Think big, act local. On August 23, that means an afternoon of music that turns into real support for Connecticut Children’s.”
Kelsey Rose, the event champion, headlining artist and a Grassroots Berlin member, said she has a personal connection to Connecticut Children’s. Her younger sister received care at the hospital as a baby.
“I knew I wanted to do a big event that everyone could relate to and be eager to participate in. CCMC provided amazing care to my little sister when she was a baby, so I knew this organization deserved recognition,” Rose said. “So many families here in CT are positively impacted by CCMC. I came up with the idea for a concert because my favorite pastime is playing music and I know a lot of musicians who I knew would love to give back to the community. They are amazing people who are donating their time to help GRB and CCMC. I’m so happy this is all coming together. I can’t wait to see the turnout and make some music.”
