My attempt to make a deal for a batch of older Hot Wheels collectibles fell through. The seller wanted 12 or 13 of my Premium cars, and I found circa 20 Mainline items I wanted in exchange. I just didn’t expect he’d set the prices so high, as it initially looked like he was going for $4 per car.

Something didn’t feel right to me so I just wished him good luck with the sale. If he was right and I was wrong he’ll have no problems finding buyers soon. If I was right and he was exaggerating, he’ll probably get back to me in a few days once he’ll feel stuck. You need patience to play this game, or else you’ll deplete your budget faster than you can build it back up again.

In some cases, being decisive and acting fast is just as important, especially with certain pre-orders or highly-anticipated models. I’m sure the Ferrari F40 RLC could set a new record for Mattel Creations, as it could sell out within the first 20 to 30 seconds from the moment it goes live on the website. Something like that could never happen to the Elite 64 series, or could it?

Last year’s Porsche 911 GT2 EVO 993 and 1967 Ferrari 330 P4 were pretty hot and I now regret not getting the latter. But neither of them sold out as quickly as the Scania 770 S did. That’s the sweet spot for the Elite 64 line, and we still have no clue what the manufacturer is planning for its 2026 Hauler. I doubt they’ve given up on the idea.

We’ve seen several cars in the series this year, and the Mod Shop Nissan Stagea Autech version 260RS was the only one that I considered buying. That’s still a long way from actually wiring the money, as I decided to wait until something better comes along. I’m not the one to rave about the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6×6, especially since Charlie Angulo’s new casting doesn’t have any opening features.

But I’m always fascinated about Hot Wheels models with more than four wheels. If you’ve been reading my Hot Wheels unboxing stories you’ll also know that I weigh each individual collectible: the heavier, the more exciting. In my collection, the Euro Hauler currently reigns supreme at 176 grams, and I think I remember reading that last year’s Scania Hauler is about three times as heavy.

I expect the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6×6 could be somewhere in the middle, although the Elite 64 vehicles are typically smaller than their Mainline/Premium counterparts. Two people in my area have already started a pre-order for it, with prices ranging from $34 to $38. I don’t like the fact that they’re requiring half the money upfront, as I don’t trust either of them to actually deliver on their promise.

One thing’s for certain, the G 63 AMG won’t suffer the same fate as some of its predecessors. You will still find the McLaren M6GT and the BMW M3 Touring on Mattel Creations. The manufacturer will now send you the latter for just $11 before taxes! Talk about a failed experiment.

Anyway, the 6×6 will go live on the website on August 20, 2026 at 9 AM PT for $22 before taxes. Someone on eBay has already listed it for $49.95 which feels like a rather ambitious move if you think about it.
