Canstar has revealed which supermarket has the best at-home coffee options, with one taking home all three categories.
Home brews, whether they’re made in a machine or as instant coffee, are becoming much more popular due to the rising cost of a takeaway coffee from a cafe.
The consumer group surveyed more than 2,100 Aussies to unearth which brands you should be looking at the next time you go for a grocery shop.

It may surprise people to know that when it comes to coffee pods, beans, or instant mixes, there is only one supermarket worth going to — Aldi.
The supermarket won the top spot in all three categories.
Eden Radford, Canstar’s consumer expert, said Aussies are being increasingly smarter about where they’re getting their caffeine fix.

“Cost of living pressures are having an impact on household coffee habits, as Canstar’s survey shows that nearly three in ten Australians have completely ditched the cafe run to make their coffee at home instead,” she said.
“ALDI’s clean sweep across beans, pods, and instant coffee proves that budget-friendly doesn’t mean compromising on quality.
“While value for money and taste dominated customer satisfaction for pods and instant coffee, our analysis shows bean drinkers prioritised roast accuracy above all else.”

Which Aldi coffees won the awards?
Alcafe, which retails for $4.99, won in the instant coffee category with an overall satisfaction score of five. However, when it came to taste and texture, people scored it just three stars.
It was followed by Nestle and Coles, with Woolworths at the bottom of the nine retailers.
When it came to beans, Lazzio won the top spot, with a one-kilogram bag selling for $17.99 at Aldi.
It scored fives across the board, except for variety. It was followed by Campos and Lavazza.
Expressi was crowned the best of the coffee pods, scoring five stars overall. It was followed by Nescafé, Nespresso, Starbucks and L’Or.

Canstar revealed that 29 per cent of Australians have ditched the morning ritual of buying a cup of coffee at their favourite cafe due to soaring costs.
The average cost of a cup of coffee is now $5.90, and even more if you swap in an alternative milk.
Coffee prices across Australia have climbed steadily in recent years, with Torrens University Australia citing global supply chain disruptions, higher labour costs, climate change, and rising operating expenses.
This includes things such as extreme weather conditions in major growing areas such as Vietnam and Brazil, impacting the crops and supply.
The university also said growing demand for alternative milks and more sustainable business practices had added to the cost of making coffee.
