Mercedes-Benz celebrates ‘140 years of innovation’ in 2026, and it’s been one rollercoaster ride so far this year, with the premium German automaker pushing novelties left and right as if this were Niagara Falls, not the automotive industry.
For example, Mercedes-Benz is joining the events during Monterey Car Week with both novelties and wacky things – they even invented the Mercedes-Benz Future Classics Auction House, debuting at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance: a “beautifully curated display showcases future collector vehicles from Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Maybach.”
They don’t forget about adding new models to the roster, either: the Mercedes-AMG performance electric SUV, the high-riding counterpart to the ultra-controversial GT 4-Door Coupe EV, has started the pre-launch teaser campaign, and all the novelties launched so far this year are hitting their intended markets left and right.
One of the main additions to the roster – and the model that kicked off the year’s incredible campaign of novelties and refreshments – is the flagship Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which sports the latest three-pointed LED star DRL styling along with the newest technologies across the board, including in Guard and Maybach form.
Well, a member of the imaginative guild of digital car content creators has stopped dwelling across the parallel universes of vehicular CGI to give a helping hand to the rise to stardom of the S-Class. More precisely, Uygar, a “professional daydreamer” based in Turkey and known as ‘uygarspots‘ on social media, has taken note of the all-new direction of Mercedes-Benz, swiftly showcased through the Vision Iconic grand tourer, and introduces us to its own unofficial, hypothetical design project.
While the Mercedes-Benz Vision Iconic is a design study blending a retro-futuristic exterior design mixed with the most recent EV technology and an Art Deco-style interior that’s far from reality, this hypothetical Mercedes-Benz Vision S Coupe is much closer to a potential return of the S-Class Coupe grand tourer land yacht.
The wishful thinking concept features the big star grille but with a metal cover that only lets some of the LEDs shine through, slim LED headlights, a massive air intake integrated in the front bumper, special concave chrome alloy wheels to mix and match with the satin silver body color, a racked roofline, a full-width LED taillight, a chrome diffuser rear bumper assembly, and a sleek profile.
Unfortunately, we don’t get to see what’s inside, nor do we know anything about the powertrain that could be tucked under the long hood. It could be an all-electric model, too, with the rear vent serving a practical purpose to enhance cooling of the battery pack. But it might also be ICE-powered, since there’s more than enough space to hide the exhaust outlets in that chrome diffuser and to put a mighty V8 under the V-shaped front hood, right?
