Lufthansa is expanding its onboard culinary offerings and, starting in September, will provide passengers with additional options to personalize their travel experience.

Onboard Delights: More Choices on Short- and Medium-Haul Flights

With Onboard Delights, Lufthansa offers a selection of fresh meals, snacks, and beverages for purchase in Economy Class on short- and medium-haul flights. Passengers can pre-order some of these food items before departure. The program was introduced in February 2023 and has been continuously expanded since then.

Starting 1 September, 2026, five hot meals will be added to the menu. They are available exclusively via pre-order and can be placed from four weeks to 24 hours before departure.

Five hot meals to choose from

The following hot meals are available on continental routes with a flight time of two hours or more:

·       Beef roulade with potato dumplings

·       Chicken teriyaki

·       Tortellini in tomato sauce with zucchini

·       “Die Echte” currywurst from Dönninghaus

·       Cheeseburger from “HANS IM GLÜCK”

The beef roulade, chicken teriyaki, and tortellini are served with a dessert, while the currywurst is served the classic way with a roll.

Olaf Mauthe, Head of Hospitality Catering Management at Lufthansa, says:

“With these hot meals, we’re expanding Onboard Delights to offer our passengers on longer continental flights an additional selection. Pre-ordering guarantees our guests that their desired meal will be waiting for them on board – for a relaxed and predictable journey.”

New Offering in Business Class as well

Lufthansa is also offering a new service to Business Class passengers on long-haul flights. Since August 2023, they have been able to pre-select their main course on flights departing from Frankfurt and Munich. Starting 1 September, 2026, this service will be expanded to most long-haul flights returning to Germany. Passengers will benefit from a wider selection: Starting four weeks up to 24 hours before departure, they can now choose from six main courses instead of the previous three.
