With the Caravan Salon 2026 in Messe Dusseldorf, Germany, just around the corner, from August 28 through September 6, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is eager to showcase its entire family of modern camping solutions while also focusing on two major global reveals.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will showcase its entire portfolio of leisure vehicles and motorhomes at the brand’s home in Hall 16 and will also feature two world premieres: the first-ever all-electric ID. California Cruise plus an “innovative camping concept for the California Beach.” They will also celebrate a new milestone: 250k Volkswagen California models have been produced in Hannover. Meanwhile, a series of motorhomes and campervans based on Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles models will be displayed across the exhibition grounds.
The new ID. California Cruise and a camping concept for the California Beach developed together with the Stuff Bubble brand will be the primary attractions but fans will also get to see the entire California family, starting with the compact Caddy California and finishing big with the Grand California motorhome. VW also muses about itself that it’s the only vehicle manufacturer that develops an entire campervan family in-house and manufactures it at its own plants.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will bring to the event the world premiere of the ID. California Cruise. The new model is based on the regular fully-electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz, mixing electricity with the California camper concept for the first time, and also promises that a new generation of fully-electric campervans will expand progressively over the coming years.
The second world premiere centers around the Volkswagen California Beach and a modular camping concept developed jointly with Stuff Bubble. The latter is a young company specialized in lightweight, modular camping solutions. VW will also premiere at the show the enhanced California, which recently gained an optional electrically-operated tailgate for the first time, better heating and air-conditioning control, as well as a roof-bed air outlet for better heating.
The California model is offered with three powertrain options: TDI for long-distance travel, a powerful TSI gasoline engine, as well as an eHybrid 4Motion plug-in hybrid with an output of 180 kW or 241 hp and all-wheel drive plus stationary AC for up to eight hours. In addition, Volkswagen premieres at a show the new California Ocean Generation special edition along with a new Aero Kit for the California.
The latter was developed in collaboration with ABT Sportsline and includes a front spoiler, air-intake trims, more prominent side strips, a rear apron, and 20-inch alloy wheels. The new aerodynamic package from VW and ABT will also be available for the Multivan model. The complete list of vehicles available at Caravan Salon includes the ID. California Cruise, California Beach, California Beach Tour, ABT California Ocean, California Ocean Generation, Grand California 600 and Dune 680, plus the Caddy California Maxi.
