A new Aldi grocery store on the east side of Springfield will open next week.

The grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at 51 Fourth Ave.

The store was built at the intersections of East Main Street and Fourth and Maplewood avenues, at the site of a former parking lot next to the UEC Theatre and across from Dollar Tree.

“At our new Springfield ALDI store, customers will see why so many already choose ALDI for their weekly grocery shopping,” said Laura Bauer, regional vice president for ALDI. “As shoppers look to stretch their dollar further, we’re excited to open this new location and bring more people a high-quality grocery selection they want and need at the lowest possible price. “

To celebrate the opening, the first 200 customers at the grand opening will get a gift bag filled with a sampling of Aldi-exclusive products and a gift card as part of the Aldi Golden Ticket giveaway program.

In this new store, Bauer said shoppers can expect Aldi-exclusive products, as nearly 90% of items are exclusive brands, such as organic meats, fresh produce, sustainable seafood, standout cheese and wine selections; a curated grocery selection; and weekly Aldi finds that are on-trend, seasonal and limited-time items.

Crews with Dalo Construction Inc. started working on the store in November 2025, a few months after Aldi Inc. bought the property from United Entertainment Corp for $975,000 in August 2025, according to the Clark County Auditor’s website.

The Springfield store will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. There is another Aldi grocery store in Springfield at 2091 N. Bechtle Ave. and a distribution center for the grocery chain at 4400 S. Charleston Pike.

This newest opening brings Aldi closer to its goal of having 3,200 stores by the end of 2028, according to Bauer.
