Wyndham Clark’s BMW Championship win has vaulted him onto the U.S. Presidents Cup team.
Clark began the week seventh in the U.S. Presidents Cup standings, with the top six automatically qualifying for September’s event. Captain Brandt Snedeker locked the top six after the BMW Championship, with six captain’s picks to follow.
Clark made the 2023 Ryder Cup and 2024 Presidents Cup teams, but a lackluster 2025 left him on the outside looking in for the Ryder Cup team. He’s now firmly back in the picture with a 2026 that has three wins — the CJ Cup at Byron Nelson, the U.S. Open and the BMW Championship. Clark is 2-3-1 in team history.
The man who fell out is Ben Griffin, who tied for 44th in the 50-man field this week at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis.
Scottie Scheffler and Cameron Young had already clinched Presidents Cup spots going into the week. Sam Burns, Russell Henley and Collin Morikawa are the final three automatic selections to the team.

Snedeker’s picks will be the real source of intrigue for the Americans. Chris Gotterup finished seventh in the Presidents Cup standings and looks to be in a strong position to make his team debut at Medinah Country Club outside of Chicago on Sept. 24-27. Gotterup has also won three times in 2026.
Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay are experienced Americans who will need the nod from Snedeker to make the team.
While Snedeker has made it clear his goal is to win the Presidents Cup and not serve as a proving ground for the Ryder Cup, there’s considerable noise for him to include rookies such as Jackson Koivun, Michael Thorbjornsen, Jacob Bridgeman and Akshay Bhatia.
The International Team, captained by Geoff Ogilvy, will lock in its six automatic selections after the Tour Championship next Sunday.
The U.S. has a 13-1-1 record all-time in the Presidents Cup, a biennial competition that alternates with the Ryder Cup. The International Team won in 1998, and the teams shared the cup in 2003.
