Australia’s best supermarket has been revealed, with Aldi taking the top spot in Canstar’s 2026 Most Satisfied Customers Award for Supermarkets for the ninth year in a row.

The consumer group said that customers are looking for supermarket deals and specials, over value for money or produce freshness.

Canstar took on feedback from 2,738 Australians to determine which supermarket would be crowned the country’s best.

The categories included deals and specials, the freshness of meat and produce, the checkout experience, the product range, stock availability, store layout, and customer service.

Jordan Lack, Aldi Australia’s chief commercial officer, said the supermarket was proud to be recognised.

“Our Price Promise is built on one simple commitment to Australians, Aldi won’t be beaten on the cost of their weekly shop,” Jordan said.

“That’s why we’re continuing to lower prices across our range, giving customers more opportunities to save on everyday essentials.

Eden Radford, Canstar’s consumer expert, congratulated Aldi for its win.

“This is an impressive achievement that demonstrates the combination of everyday low pricing, much-loved home brands, and exciting weekly specials is what Australians are looking for,” she said.

“Canstar’s analysis revealed shoppers feel much more satisfied when they walk out the supermarket feeling like they’ve secured a bargain, not just that they’ve paid the lowest price.”
