The past decade has brought a wealth of talent to women’s tennis, and fans need not look any further than the past decade of U.S. Open women’s singles champions. With notorious depth among the field, players like Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff and more have dominated the final Grand Slam tournament of the tennis season in recent years, and they’ve done it all in style.
Nike, New Balance and Adidas, among other brands, have all been represented by recent U.S. Open women’s singles champions. Before the tournament officially kicks off with first round matches on Aug. 30, WWD looks back at the tennis kits worn by some of the women’s champions over the past 10 years.

2025 
At the 2025 U.S. Open women’s singles final, Aryna Sabalenka defended her title in style, sporting a Nike tennis dress with waist cutouts. The dress was cast in a black and white color scheme with hot punch tones to add further definition at the waist. The performance-driven apparel piece included sweat-wicking fabric with an open-back design for enhanced ventilation. Sabalenka signed with Nike in 2017.
In the days following the tournament, Launchmetrics detailed how Nike dominated the court. Nike was the top-performing brand of the 2025 U.S. Open with $9.4 million in media impact value — a proprietary metric that assigns a true monetary value to marketing strategies across print, online and social media in order to calculate ROI.
2023 
For her maiden grand slam title, Coco Gauff turned to her tennis kit partner New Balance. The athlete, who officially signed with the brand in 2018, wore a deep maroon and red kit that included a sleeveless tank top and tennis skirt with subtle pleating. Gauff also had another iteration of the look in chartreuse, but it was the red style that the athlete wore for her first U.S. Open title and grand slam.
2022 
Iga Świątek of Poland celebrated her first U.S. Open Grand Slam title with the help of Asics. The athlete and four-time French Open champion wore a complete kit that came with a celeste-toned skirt and coordinated white jacket with a sleeveless shirt. While competing and accepting her trophy, Świątek also sported an Asics hat. Świątek signed with the brand in 2020, parting ways with Nike.
2017 
Sloane Stephens brought Under Armour to the U.S. Open with her orange sherbet-toned tennis dress. The sleeveless kit incorporated the summery color with contrasting bold lines to further accentuate the monochrome scheme. Stephens also wore a visor from the brand. The American athlete signed with the brand in 2010 but parted ways in the months following her U.S. Open win with Nike.
2016 
In 2016, German tennis star Angelique Kerber brought bursts of color to the tennis court in her Adidas kit. The color-pop look was created with a sleeveless tank and paired with a geometric-patterned skirt in shades of blue, chartreuse, orange and more. Kerber also added a navy visor with orange outlining to complete the kit, in which she won her sole U.S. Open women’s singles title.
