U.S. IT services major UST announced on September 1 the launch of “UST Codon,” a generative AI development platform for enterprises. The platform supports five major enterprise systems—ServiceNow, SAP, Salesforce, Oracle Fusion, and Workday—generating applications and business workflows from plain-English instructions. All outputs are verified by the company’s specialists before being handed off to existing development processes, aiming to balance development speed with governance.
The platform is designed as a governed workspace where enterprise development teams can create and update applications and workflows on their existing business systems. Since each platform requires proprietary tools and specialized skills, development efforts tend to become siloed—a challenge UST Codon directly addresses.
Developers specify the target platform and describe the required functionality in plain English. UST Codon generates deliverables that meet the requirements through approved, secure connections, which are then reviewed by UST specialists before being handed off to the customer’s existing development pipeline. No changes reach production business systems without specialist verification.
In generative AI-assisted development, general-purpose AI assistants often lack the domain knowledge and governance requirements specific to individual enterprise platforms. UST Codon incorporates human oversight, requirement classification, executor logging, and auditability into an AI workspace that spans multiple platforms. Rather than autonomously rewriting production environments, the design routes AI-generated changes through specialist verification and connects them to existing approval procedures.
On the cost front, the platform offers an estimation feature that combines AI token fees with UST specialist labor costs to provide a total price before development begins. According to the company, internal deployments accelerated platform development by roughly 50%, with some applications that previously took months delivered in as little as one week. However, the company notes these are internal results and does not guarantee equivalent outcomes in customer environments.
UST is an IT services firm with more than 30,000 employees across over 30 countries, supporting digital transformation from design through operations. In a 2026 survey of 510 global enterprise executives conducted by the company, 90% said they are piloting or scaling AI, while 44% cited data quality as the biggest barrier to adoption. Only 28% of companies have procedures for responding to AI failures, and just 23% conduct adversarial testing.
As AI-driven business system development expands, the importance of tracking who changed what and who approved it grows alongside the need for speed. UST Codon addresses this challenge by offering a common interface across five major platforms while making human verification mandatory.
