Porsche 911 GT3 Bergsport
From the wooden buildings of the former sawmill in Gmünd, where the first Porsche sports cars took shape in the shadow of the Austrian Alps, to the sinuous passes that became the natural proving ground that defined the brands earliest models, Porsche’s story has always been deeply linked to the mountains. The steep gradients and winding bends of Alpine roads shaped the key characteristics of not only its road cars but also the brand’s earliest racing cars. Now, Porsche is introducing a market edition – available in Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland – inspired by the majestic Alpine landscape and the enjoyment that so many gain from driving on its iconic mountain roads: the GT3 Bergsport.
Based on the current version 911 GT3 with Touring Package and created by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, the GT3 Bergsport combines pure driving enjoyment with design elements inspired by the Alps – a place where low weight, pin-sharp handling and pure mechanical feedback are rewarded with the highest level of driving satisfaction. Each of the 100 examples of the GT3 Bergsport is an embodiment of these qualities combined with interior and exterior design elements that draw their inspiration from the landscape and Porsche’s deep connection with it.
The ideal setting for the world premiere of the GT3 Bergsport is therefore the Arosa ClassicCar hill climb in Switzerland. On 3 September, Porsche Brand Ambassador Jörg Bergmeister will drive the special edition on the legendary 7.3-kilometre course, climbing 422 metres through 76 corners. Against a spectacular Alpine backdrop, the debut will showcase the qualities that make mountain driving such a rewarding experience: precision, confidence and a close connection between driver and machine.
Inspired by the colours and light of the Alps
The new exterior paint colour Valleygreenmetallic was developed especially for this market edition via the Paint to Sample Plus programme, and is a rich hue designed to capture the deep greens and earthy tones of the mountains. In sunlight, the gold metallic particles create a radiant sparkle, recalling the glittering surface of freshly fallen snow under the Alpine sun.
The Lightweight Package is paired with aluminum wheels in place of the magnesium wheels otherwise included. Carefully tailored to the demands of alpine mountain passes, the GT3 Bergsport’s configuration supports exceptional driving precision and delivers a rewarding experience across a broad range of road surfaces. A front axle lift system further enhances everyday usability on steep ramps and uneven surfaces, while the 90-litre fuel tank extends the car’s touring range on longer mountain drives. The forged aluminium wheels are painted in satin-finish White Gold and Ceramica, evoking ice-capped mountain peaks, and frame vivid orange brake callipers that represent the vibrant tones of alpenglow, the natural phenomenon that occurs when the first or last light of the day illuminates Alpine summits.
Further exterior details that identify the model’s special status include tinted HD-Matrix LED headlights and the chequered flag motif on the front luggage compartment lid, inspired by the 908 Bergspyder. A badge on the B-pillar bears the inscription ‘GT3 Bergsport’. Consistent with the accents used elsewhere on the exterior, it features a Ceramica border and raised White Gold lettering against a high-gloss black background. Another, more prominent, exterior badge appears on the engine compartment cover. This circular emblem brings together the entire Bergsport colour palette in a design featuring four Alpine summits, representing the four Alpine countries, with a serpentine road set against a mountain backdrop. Produced especially to mark the introduction of the GT3 Bergsport, a special-edition issue of Curves Magazine will also be released, limited to just 1,000 copies.
An interior shaped by the mountain theme
The colour themes are carried through to the car’s exceptionally well-equipped interior, where Valleygreen continues as a bespoke leather colour on the folding carbon-fibre bucket seats, which are part of the Lightweight Package. Despite its uncompromising focus on the driving experience, the GT3 Bergsport also features a rear seat system. Decorative orange stitching and embroidered ‘GT3’ lettering on the headrests carry the alpenglow tones through the interior, along with accents on the turning start switch, accelerator pedal, 12-o’clock steering wheel marking, the gearshift pattern on the manual gear lever and details within the Sport Chrono Package with Porsche Design GT Clock.
The mountain inspiration is also reflected in the decorative stitching on the doors and upper part of the dashboard, where alternating black and white thread creates stylised mountain-peak silhouettes in a cross-stitch pattern. The Light Design Package provides additional ambient illumination, while the BOSE® Surround Sound System delivers a high-quality audio experience.
The specially designed GT3 Bergsport badge found on the rear lid grille is also embossed on the leather centre console lid. Even the key, leather key pouch and documentation wallet are tailor-made to match the GT3 Bergsport colour palette and logos.
With the GT3 Bergsport, Porsche is combining the technical prowess of the current 911 GT3 with styling that reflects the brand’s close connection to the Alpine region. Rather than revisiting a model from the past, the car is a contemporary interpretation of the values that have shaped Porsche since the very beginning – values that were forged on the demanding yet captivating roads of the Alps.
