German Federal Police have recovered a detached wind turbine blade section
that was drifting between the operational Hohe
See
offshore wind farm and the He
Dreiht
project in the German North Sea.

Authorities were notified on 24 July 2026 after attempts by offshore work
vessels to recover the blade were unsuccessful. A police patrol vessel
was deployed in coordination with Germany’s Waterways and Shipping Administration
to secure the area and redirect passing vessel traffic.

The approximately 20-metre blade section was drifting just below the surface,
making it difficult to detect and presenting a potential hazard to navigation.
It was towed to the police vessel, cut into sections and brought aboard
before being offloaded by crane in Cuxhaven on 27 July 2026.

The blade has been reported as having detached from a turbine at He Dreiht.
However, the cause of the incident remains unclear, and EnBW and Vestas
had not publicly confirmed further details when the recovery was reported.




The 960MW He Dreiht project will comprise 64 Vestas V236-15.0MW turbines
and is located approximately 85km northwest of Borkum.
