In Berlin, officers of the German Federal Criminal Police Office detained a Kazakh citizen Serhiy K., who is suspected of spying for Russian intelligence services.
“Serhiy K. had been in constant contact with a Russian intelligence service operating in Germany since at least May 2025. Up to the time of his arrest, the accused had transmitted to his handler a substantial amount of information of various kinds”

According to investigators, the data handed over related to critically important security sectors.
“This included, for example, information about military support for Ukraine from the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as about the German arms and defense industries – in particular, about companies developing drones and robots”

Additionally, the detainee conducted visual reconnaissance and sabotage planning.
“Serhiy K. repeatedly sent photographs of public buildings in Berlin or military convoys on highways, including convoys of a NATO country. In addition, he informed his contact at the intelligence service about relevant targets for sabotage in Germany and proposed recruiting other individuals for a sabotage and espionage group.”

Today, April 29, the suspect will appear before an investigating judge at the Federal Supreme Court, who will decide on the custody order.
It is also known that earlier the German Federal Prosecutor’s Office detained a Romanian citizen and a Ukrainian citizen on suspicion of spying for Russian intelligence – they were gathering information and filming facilities related to the supply of drones and components for Ukraine.
