Not only is a rug a stylish home decor piece, but it can also be a functional, pet-friendly home essential, especially in homes with senior dogs. If you live in a space with hardwood floors and tile, these hard surfaces can actually be super tough for older pups to navigate and can cause painful slips, worsen arthritis, strain joints and even trigger dangerous falls. A rug helps prevent these things from happening, allowing your doggie to move through your home much more easily and safely.
Rugs can be pricey, however. Luckily, this isn’t always the case. Take, for example, this stunning new runner rug available at Aldi right now for just $19.99. It has the most charming autumnal color scheme and is such a stylish upgrade for homes with senior dogs.
Kirkton House Navy Floral Washable Runner, $19.99 at Aldi
From Aldi’s in-house brand Kirkton House, this runner rug measures two feet by six feet, making it perfect for entryways, hallways and kitchens, though you can place it wherever your pup needs a little extra traction and support.

Even better, this rug is washable, which is particularly helpful as dogs get older and may have accidents. Simply toss it in the wash when it’s time to remove any pet messes and keep it looking beautiful and clean.
If this style isn’t really your vibe for your home, no prob. Aldi is selling a number of other washable runner rugs this week, including a charming ivory and multi-colored floral style.
These runner rugs are available at select Aldi stores right now as part of the German grocer’s current rotation of weekly Aldi finds—product specials that come and go every week on Wednesdays. You never know what you will find when you take a stroll through the store’s center aisle, but one thing is for sure: It is always worth the trip!
