BERLIN — The Berlin Police Department arrested a man for reportedly knocking a 71-year-old female to the ground during a purse snatching incident at the CVS at 1055 Farmington Avenue.

Police say Jeanerood Paul, 26, injured the victim’s arm in the March 5, 2025 incident and then used the woman’s stolen debit cards to make more than $5,000 in purchases and withdrawals within 24 hours. The Berlin Police Department’s Investigations Division took over the case “and developed probable cause for the arrest.”

Police said Paul relocated from East Hartford to Florida shortly after the incident. On July 17, 2025, with assistance from the Sunrise, Florida Police Department, Paul was taken into custody and held as a fugitive from justice in connection with pending Connecticut charges.

“On April 29, 2026, Berlin Police Department detectives extradited Paul from Florida and arrested him on a warrant,” police said.

Paul was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery in the third degree, larceny in the third degree, illegal use of a payment card, operating under suspension and improper use of a marker plate. He is being held on a $75,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned at New Britain Superior Court.
