Lead Stories manually reviewed Trump’s Truth Social account<\/a> for recent posts containing the phrase “MERZ, LICK EGGS.” The team also searched Trump’s Truth<\/a> — a website that archives Trump’s Truth Social posts — for the same phrase from Feb. 28, 2026 (the day the U.S. war with Iran began) to May 6, 2026. No date appears on the fake post. No matching posts<\/a> were found (archived here<\/a>).<\/p>\n Trump has not used the German protest slogan “Merz, lick eggs” or explicitly threatened to “take over” Germany in any of his posts. Lead Stories searched Google News<\/a> (archived here<\/a>) and Yahoo! News<\/a> (archived here<\/a>) and did not find any matching reports for “Trump ‘Merz, lick eggs’ ‘take over’ Germany.” Had the president actually made such a post, major news outlets would have widely reported it.<\/p>\n Trump has criticized Merz twice on Truth Social since the start of the war. The first instance was in a post<\/a> (archived here<\/a>) on April 28, 2026. He said:<\/p>\n The Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about! If Iran had a Nuclear Weapon, the whole World would be held hostage.
