Following on from Friday’s 4-3 win over Switzerland, the German national team also won their second match of the year on Monday, defeating Ghana 2-1 (1-0) in Stuttgart. Three FC Bayern players were in head coach Julian Nagelsmann’s starting XI – captain Joshua Kimmich<\/a> (played the whole 90 minutes), Jonathan Tah<\/a> (first half only) and Serge Gnabry<\/a> (first half only). Kai Havertz put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time. Lennart Karl<\/a> (at half-time) and Leon Goretzka<\/a> (61st minute) were the other two FCB players to feature in the second half. After Ghana equalised through Issahaku Fatawu in the 70th minute, Deniz Undav scored the crucial winner with two minutes to go to secure the win for the Germans.<\/p>\n

After the final whistle, Kimmich looked back on the two wins against Switzerland and Ghana to kick off the World Cup year: “We certainly didn’t play two perfect games. But we still won both games,” said the 31-year-old. On 12 May, Nagelsmann will reveal who will be involved in the World Cup before the squad heads to the USA on 2 June. The first stop there will be a training camp in Chicago, including a friendly against the USA (6 June). The first World Cup group game will be against Cura\u00e7ao on 14 June in Houston.<\/p>\n
