Seasonally and calendar-adjusted data show a decline of 0.7 percent from February 2026. On an annual comparison, calendar-adjusted production in March 2026 was 2.8 percent lower than in March 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The revised figures for February 2026 indicate a month-on-month drop of 0.5 percent, a downward revision from the preliminary estimate of a 0.3 percent decline. In the less volatile three-month comparison from January to March 2026, production was 1.2 percent lower than in the preceding three months.<\/p>\n<p>The monthly decrease in March was driven by output reductions in energy generation, which fell by 4.0 percent, and in mechanical engineering, which declined by 2.7 percent. These losses were partially offset by gains in the construction sector, which rose by 1.9 percent, and in the automotive industry, which also increased by 1.9 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Industrial production\u2014defined as manufacturing excluding energy and construction\u2014fell by 0.9 percent in March compared to February on a seasonally and calendar-adjusted basis. Within this category, capital goods output dropped by 1.6 percent, and consumer goods production fell by 1.9 percent. Conversely, the production of intermediate goods rose by 0.8 percent. Compared to March 2025, calendar-adjusted industrial production was 4.1 percent lower.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast to the overall trend, production in energy-intensive industrial sectors increased. Seasonally and calendar-adjusted output in these branches rose by 1.2 percent in March 2026 compared to February 2026. Over the three-month period from January to March 2026, energy-intensive production was 2.1 percent higher than in the preceding three months. However, compared to March 2025, calendar-adjusted energy-intensive output was 1.2 percent lower.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t1.
