{"id":16176,"date":"2026-05-16T15:03:15","date_gmt":"2026-05-16T15:03:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/16176\/"},"modified":"2026-05-16T15:03:15","modified_gmt":"2026-05-16T15:03:15","slug":"german-speaking-directors-launch-local-version-of-danish-dogma-25-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/16176\/","title":{"rendered":"German-Speaking Directors Launch Local Version of Danish Dogma 25"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tGermany is doing Dogma. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tA year after a group of young Danish directors, in Cannes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/young-danish-collective-reboot-dogma-cinema-movement-1236220055\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">rebooted the groundbreaking 1990s indie film movement Dogme 95<\/a>, movement, with Dogma 25, five German-speaking directors are doing their own, local-language spin-off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDirctors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/tom-tykwer\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tom-tykwer_1\" data-tag=\"tom-tykwer\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Tykwer<\/a> (Run Lola Run, Babylon Berlin), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/ilker-catak\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ilker-catak_1\" data-tag=\"ilker-catak\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ilker \u00c7atak<\/a> (The Teacher\u2019s Lounge, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-reviews\/yellow-letters-review-teachers-lounge-1236500649\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Yellow Letters<\/a>), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/nora-fingscheidt\/\" id=\"auto-tag_nora-fingscheidt_1\" data-tag=\"nora-fingscheidt\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nora Fingscheidt<\/a> (System Crasher, The Outrun), Helene Hegemann (Axolotl Overkill) and Kurdwin Ayub (Mond) have signed on to the Dogma 25 \u201cmanifesto,\u201d pledging to make movies that follow a strict \u201cvow of chastity\u201d that includes 10 \u201cdogmas\u201d intended to revitalize independent cinema in the age of algorithms and streaming conventions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe 10 dogmas include restrictions that all scripts \u201cmust be original and handwritten\u201d; that at least half of each film must be free of dialogue \u201cto emphasize visual storytelling\u201d; that the internet \u201cis banned from the creative process to ensure connection to the physical world\u201d; and that \u201cno more than ten crew members are allowed behind the camera.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tOther requirements include that all Dogma 25 films must be shot in their real-world locations, with no cosmetic alterations to faces or bodies unless required by the story; that all materials \u2014 sets, props, costumes \u2014 must be reused or found; and that productions must be completed within a year to preserve urgency and creative flow. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cWe are heading towards a world in which stories are already conceived as products before they have been experienced, filmed, or even felt,\u201d said Tykwer, speaking at the launch of German Dogma 25, at the German Pavillion in Cannes on Saturday. \u201cWe want to take the opposite act.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u00c7atak argued that the Dogma restrictions would allow the filmmakers to embrace \u201cthe impulses of the unexpected, because not everything can or needs to be controlled.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAdded Fingscheidt: \u201cWe\u2019re all very different, and that\u2019s what inspires us\u2026Some of us already know exactly what we\u2019re doing, others simply say yes to the creative process and look forward to the journeys to be completely unknown. But one certainty we stand by is that our decisions are human. The other certainty is that we stick together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe German Dogma 25 films will be produced by Berlin\u2019s X Filme and Zentropa Deutschland, the German subsidiary of the original Dogma producers Zentropa, with X Filme releasing the resulting films in Germany. TrustNordisk will handle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/international\/\" id=\"auto-tag_international_1\" data-tag=\"international\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">international<\/a> sales on all German Dogma 25 movies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Danish Dogma 25 was launched last year by directors May el-Toukhy (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-reviews\/queen-hearts-review-1175678\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Queen of Hearts<\/a>), Milad Alami (Opponent), Annika Berg (Team Hurricane), Isabella Ekl\u00f6f (Kalak), and Jesper Just (Vanishing Woman). The first Dogma 25 film, Ekl\u00f6f\u2019s Mr. Nawashi, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/first-dogma-25-film-bdsm-love-story-mr-nawashi-starts-shoot-1236593138\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">has just begun filming<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Germany is doing Dogma.
