Here\u2019s what the players and coaches have to say about the final matchday of the 2025\/26 season.<\/p>\n

Grischa Pr\u00f6mel: \u201cWe set our sights high; we knew it was a final. Then we foolishly fell behind. The red card was a real blow to our gameplan. But overall, it\u2019s been an outstanding season. It\u2019s amazing what we\u2019ve built up this season. Every player in the squad can be proud of themselves. I\u2019m grateful to have played in a team like this. Everyone gave their all. It was a great performance this season, which was overshadowed by the result today. But pride prevails because we turned a team on the brink of relegation into a team playing in European competition next season. Saying goodbye isn\u2019t easy for me because I\u2019ve grown fond of many of the lads. These are beautiful moments that will stay with me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ozan Kabak: \u201cIt was a poor performance from us. But we\u2019re happy that we\u2019ve had such a good season. We\u2019ll be playing in Europe next year, so I\u2019m proud of us. It\u2019s frustrating that we didn\u2019t make it into the Champions League but today wasn\u2019t good enough either. I\u2019m looking forward to the Europa League.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oliver Baumann: \u201cIt wasn\u2019t good today. But you have to look at the season as a whole \u2013 and that was outstanding. All in all, the game was too open today; we didn\u2019t close down the spaces tightly enough. Gladbach took full advantage of that. We\u2019ve developed very well as a team. We can be very proud \u2013 even if it hurts a lot today. We\u2019ve racked up the most wins in the club\u2019s history.\u201d<\/p>\n

Andreas Schicker: \u201cWe didn\u2019t miss out on the Champions League; we gained a spot in the Europa League. We finished fifth and, with 61 points, had the second-best season in TSG\u2019s history. Pride completely outweighs everything. We want to continue on our successful path next season, building on continuity while also making a few selective changes, implementing clear ideas and recruiting profiles for what we want to adjust.\u201d<\/p>\n

Christian Ilzer: \u201cToday\u2019s result is a bitter pill to swallow. We were expecting a different game and a different result, but Gladbach are very deserving winners. This result has sent us a clear message. It may be the end of the season, but it\u2019s not the end of our journey. We\u2019ll draw the right conclusions and take them into the new season. But I\u2019d like to put this game behind us now. We can be very pleased with a very good season. We\u2019ve built a very successful team that has thrilled many people. I\u2019m very grateful to have been part of this story. The journey continues.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eugen Polanski (Head Coach of Borussia M\u00f6nchengladbach): \u201cI’d like to congratulate TSG on a magnificent season. It was an almost perfect performance from us today. The \u2018almost\u2019 refers to Haris Tabakovi\u0107, as he had to be substituted due to injury and I hope it doesn\u2019t jeopardise his chance of making it to the World Cup. A lot went our way today, but we\u2019ve worked hard for it. I\u2019m delighted with how the season has ended.\u201d<\/p>\n
