Between 1 April to 30 June 2026, annual energy bills for a typical dual-fuel direct debit household in Great Britain are around \u00a31,641.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">This works out at around \u00a3137 a month. Richard Neudegg, director of regulation at Uswitch.com, said: \u201cA rise of this magnitude will be alarming, especially with higher costs forecast for the winter too. Thankfully, households can opt out of this price rise if they act now.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/news\/cost-of-living\/major-uk-bank-brand-set-33965914\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">READ MORE Major UK bank brand set to disappear from high street after July 1<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cThe expected 13% rise to energy bills is completely avoidable. A number of fixed tariffs currently undercut the predicted price cap, some by over \u00a3200 for the average home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cThe cost of living is already stretched, but energy is one of the few areas where households can act to block rising bills.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cFixing your energy deal will not only save you money right now, but importantly will protect you from the price rises predicted in July, locking in good rates for winter and beyond.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cFor those currently on standard tariffs, doing nothing could be a costly mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The cap relates to the biggest energy providers in the country, including British Gas, EDF, EON, Ovo and Octopus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Discussing the Iran war and its impact, The Energy Saving Trust said: &#8220;It\u2019s unclear when the conflict will end or what the full impact on global gas and oil prices will be.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;Energy prices in Great Britain are currently protected by the price cap until 30 June.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The Energy Saving Trust goes on: &#8220;Prices will change again on 1 July, but we\u2019ll be told what these are by Ofgem on 27 May.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;Early forecasts by Cornwall Insights suggest prices may rise unless the situation changes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">A government spokesperson said: \u201cWe know families will be concerned about the impact the conflict in the Middle East will have on their energy bills.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cTackling the affordability crisis is our number one priority.
