Customer requirements, volume developments and cost structures call for leaner, more focused and more efficient production structures.”

– Viktor Molnar, COO of thyssenkrupp Automotive Technology.

The company said production at Terre Haute would be phased down gradually through to the planned closure date of March 31, 2027, with customer supply maintained throughout the transition period.

thyssenkrupp Automotive Technology is currently undergoing a wider global transformation programme aimed at improving profitability, operational performance and organisational clarity. The company said this includes regularly reviewing its production network and adapting sites in response to evolving customer and market demands.

While the closure represents another sign of continuing pressure across the automotive supply chain, particularly as suppliers adapt to electrification, shifting vehicle demand and cost inflation, thyssenkrupp stressed that North America remains a strategically important region for the business.

The segment generated approximately €2.1bn in regional sales during fiscal year 2024/25 and supplies components to nearly all major automotive manufacturers and commercial vehicle producers across North America.

“We recognize that the planned closure represents a significant change for the employees in Terre Haute and for the local community,” said Yashar Kazemi, President of thyssenkrupp Presta North America, LLC.

“The site and its employees have made an important contribution to our business and our customers over many years. Our focus now is on managing the next steps in an orderly and responsible manner.”

As part of the restructuring, thyssenkrupp said the Hamilton facility is expected to receive targeted investment and selective staffing increases as it develops into a more focused U.S. production base for the chassis business.

thyssenkrupp plans to close its chassis production facility in Terre Haute, Indiana, by March 2027 as part of…

[21243
21277,3445,21278,21279,21280,21281,21276
post-17503","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-thyssenkrupp","tag-businessmodels","tag-jobs","tag-leadership","tag-north-american-news","tag-rd","tag-skills","tag-thyssenkrupp
["GET
