The contract covers the construction of 6 km of tunnelled line and three underground stations. Works are set to begin in the coming period and are scheduled for completion in 2029.

The signing of the contract was made possible following a decision by the Competition Authority, which rejected an appeal submitted by a consortium led by Strabag.

The Olbrachtova – Nové Dvory section continues the works already under way on the first section, Pankrác D – Olbrachtova.

The new section forms part of the wider project to build Prague Metro Line D, one of the most significant investments in the Czech capital’s urban transport infrastructure, aimed at improving mobility and reducing pressure on the existing network.

The new Line D will be automated through the deployment of a CBTC system, while also being designed to remain compatible with the rest of the metro network on certain sections.

The line is expected to be completed in 2032, when it will be operated by 100-metre-long trains consisting of five carriages, each with a capacity of 525 passengers per train. These trains will be able to run at a maximum speed of 80 km/h.

Prague Metro Line D will have a total length of 10.6 km and 10 stations, with the project divided into three main phases. The first phase covers the Pankrác – Nové Dvory section (4.6 km with five stations), the second will link Nové Dvory to Písnice (where a depot will also be built, covering 3.8 km with three stations), and the third phase will extend the line from Pankrác to Náměstí Míru (2.7 km with two stations).

The line is expected to carry around 45 million passengers annually.

Share on:
<a class="synved-social-button synved-social-button-share synved-social-size-32
