BERLIN \u2014 Two Berlin High School seniors have been named recipients of the Connecticut Association of Schools Arts Awards, which honors students for excellence in the performing and visual arts.<\/p>\n
Students were recognized during a banquet held at the Aqua Turf. This year\u2019s honorees are Chloe Constantine for visual arts and Addison Guarino for performing arts.<\/p>\n
Principal Katie Amenta said the awards highlight both talent and hard work.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are incredibly proud of Chloe and Addison for their outstanding achievements in the arts,\u201d Amenta said. \u201cThey represent the creativity, dedication and leadership we value at Berlin High School.\u201d<\/p>\n
Constantine is active in the school\u2019s music and arts programs. Constantine participates in the concert band and jazz band and serves as drum major for the Redcoat Marching Band. Constantine has also worked as a lighting designer for school plays and recently performed in the school production of \u201cFrozen.\u201d<\/p>\n
Constantine\u2019s work also extends outside the school, including volunteering at a summer band camp and helping with Upbeat programs. Constantine\u2019s artwork has been displayed in the school and at local businesses, and they have received awards in the Scholastic Art and Writing competition. After graduation, Constantine plans to attend Marist University to study fashion design.<\/p>\n
Guarino has been a key member of the school\u2019s music and theater programs. She performs in the choral program, including the Madrigal Singers, and has taken leading roles in school musicals, including playing Elsa in \u201cFrozen.\u201d<\/p>\n
She has earned honors in regional and state music groups and received nominations for Best Actress. Guarino is also a member of the National Honor Society, captain of the girls cross country team and part of the Upbeat program. She plans to pursue a degree in musical theater after graduation.<\/p>\n
Amenta said both students have made a strong impact at the school.<\/p>\n
\u201cBoth students have gone above and beyond in their artistic pursuits while also excelling academically and giving back to their school community,\u201d she said. \u201cThey are truly deserving of this recognition.
