According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/boston\/news\/everett-school-bus-crash-students-hospital\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">CBS News<\/a>, the shocking incident happened on Thursday, May 21.<\/p>\n<p>The bus was carrying 11 elementary and middle school students. There was also a bus driver and a supervising monitor on the bus at the time. The BMW ended up rear-ending the school bus. <\/p>\n<p>According to the Everett Public School&#8217;s Superintendent, Bill Hart, the bus was not at fault. &#8220;The bus was making a left-hand turn from Broadway into Langdon Street,&#8221; he explained.<\/p>\n<p>He continued, &#8220;It was legal, it was correct, it was observing all\u2014from what I could see\u2014all appropriate signage when a vehicle on the inside lane of a two-lane main thoroughfare came up on the right-hand side and hit the back end of the bus.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Nine students ended up being sent to the hospital for checkups. Another child was also brought to the hospital by a parent following the incident. Luckily, there have been no major injuries reported. Everyone who was injured in the crash is expected to be okay.<\/p>\n<p>This Comes After Another School Bus Collision<\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t the first school bus collision in recent days. A similar collision in New York was caused by a distracted driver on their phone. We reported on the incident back when it occurred <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wideopencountry.com\/six-injured-after-school-bus-is-rear-ended-by-speeding-pickup-truck-in-new-york\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">earlier this month<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred right outside a high school senior&#8217;s house. Jeremiah Rutkowski was walking up to the bus when the shocking accident occurred.<\/p>\n<p>He jumped out of the way\u2014he recalled, &#8220;I just figured, like, if that thing&#8217;s not going to stop, it&#8217;s either going to hit the bus and something&#8217;s coming flying at me, or the entire truck is coming flying at me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Six children ended up being injured due to the speeding pickup truck driver. State Police ended up arresting the man, who was named as 35-year-old Joshua Smith. <\/p>\n<p>They explained in a statement, &#8220;The investigating trooper determined Smith was following too closely and was distracted while operating the vehicle.&#8221; According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wktv.com\/community\/updated-father-and-son-share-reaction-to-madison-bus-crash\/article_cc8f2a0a-0b86-4b2d-acc9-7b433feace81.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">WKTV News 2<\/a>, he was later given traffic tickets for driving while distracted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Ten students have been hospitalized after a BMW struck an Everett, Massachusetts, school bus.
