We are merely a couple of months away from the 2026 World Cup<\/a>. By now, all 48 qualified national teams<\/a> should be set with their plans for the tournament. Yet, it looks like some major changes could be about to take place.<\/p>\n

Joachim Low is a World Cup winner. He won the tournament in Brazil, leading the German national team to glory in 2014.<\/p>\n

Low’s coaching career has been on a downward trajectory since then though. Germany made the semi-finals of the EURO 2016. That was followed up by a group stage from the 2018 World Cup, unthinkable for a team that had looked almost unbeatable four years prior.<\/p>\n

His tenure as the German national team coach lasted 15 years and ended when they were knocked out of the EURO 2020 by England in the round of 16. Since then, Low has been without a job.<\/p>\n

Now, it looks like Low is on the verge of making a return to management almost out of nowhere. And it is a job that will put him right into the mix of things at the upcoming World Cup.<\/p>\n

According to GOAL<\/a>, Low is in advanced talks with Ghana. According to insiders, only a few details in the contract remain to be ironed out before the deal can be finalised.<\/p>\n

Ghana recently sacked Otto Addo and it looks like they are set to replace him with the former World Cup winner.<\/p>\n

Ghana do not have a great team going into the World Cup though. During the most recent international break, they lost 5-1 to Austria and 2-1 to Germany. While you cannot read too much into the results of friendly games, they have come so close to a major tournament and will be worrying their supporters.<\/p>\n

If Low does end up getting the job, it will be up to him to turn things around for Ghana. Of course, he is a proven winner and can pull out a few rabbits out of his magic hat at the upcoming World Cup.<\/p>\n
