(WCTV) &#8211; Aldi in Quincy is set to remain closed until the building is deemed safe after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wctv.tv\/2026\/05\/26\/heavy-rains-trigger-mudslide-sinkhole-near-quincy-aldi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wctv.tv\/2026\/05\/26\/heavy-rains-trigger-mudslide-sinkhole-near-quincy-aldi\/\">mudslide caused severe damage near the shopping plaza Sunday<\/a>, according to an Aldi spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In a statement to WCTV Wednesday afternoon, the company said that, out of an abundance of caution, the store will remain closed while officials further assess the situation.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Aldi in Quincy is set to remain closed until the building is deemed safe after a mudslide...\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/UWUYT5WOVBB77JKTQJJVIRTTMA.jpeg\" width=\"980\" height=\"735\" \/>Aldi in Quincy is set to remain closed until the building is deemed safe after a mudslide caused severe damage near the shopping plaza Sunday, according to the company.(WCTV)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe look forward to welcoming the community back to our store as soon as possible,\u201d Aldi said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The news comes after Quincy city officials announced in a press release Monday that heavy rain triggered a mudslide Sunday, which then resulted in damage to utility lines and the water main serving the shopping plaza.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Photos taken by a WCTV viewer on Sunday show damage near the Aldi shopping center.\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/THWDV5KRBJHNFFT2OXOOGVDBHU.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>Photos taken by a WCTV viewer on Sunday show damage near the Aldi shopping center.(WCTV viewer)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">As a result, the area temporarily lost electric and water services that day. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">However, city officials said Monday that electric services were fully restored.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A contractor on site Wednesday claims that the city has implemented a temporary fix to the water and that the store should have it now.
