about\u00a0building health and teamwork\u00a0\u2013 it is about\u00a0putting down the foundations\u00a0of the\u00a0confidence\u00a0and skills that will prepare\u00a0young people for the green economy\u00a0set to\u00a0shape Britain\u2019s future<\/p>\n<p>There is a tendency to talk\u00a0and think\u00a0about children\u2019s sport as though it exists in a sealed world of scoreboards, PE\u00a0lessons\u00a0and weekend\u00a0games.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But the most important outcomes\u00a0\u2013\u202ffrom confidence\u00a0to\u00a0curiosity, teamwork,\u00a0resilience\u00a0and the ability to solve problems as a team \u2013\u202fare\u00a0often\u00a0scored\u00a0far from\u00a0any\u00a0pitches or matches.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These are not simply sporting qualities\u00a0\u2013\u202fthey are economic,\u00a0civic\u00a0and human ones.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That is\u00a0exactly\u00a0why\u00a0our\u00a0support\u00a0remains\u00a0for\u00a0young people,\u00a0through many initiatives, from apprentice schemes to\u00a0our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mcas-proxyweb.mcas.ms\/certificate-checker?login=false&amp;originalUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fnews.eonenergy.com.mcas.ms%2Fnews%2Fe-on-next-champions-sports-careers-by-bringing-their-kids-in-sport-event-series-to-birminghams-leigh-primary-school%3FMcasTsid%3D20892&amp;McasCSRF=d4f016d3da3d085e14040dce3c3e8489f42b6dcfa2c81571f869044f24f2aeb7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kids in Sport programme<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Our support also\u00a0sits naturally within\u00a0E.ON\u2019s\u00a0wider mission:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mcas-proxyweb.mcas.ms\/certificate-checker?login=false&amp;originalUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eon.com.mcas.ms%2Fen.html%3FMcasTsid%3D20892&amp;McasCSRF=d4f016d3da3d085e14040dce3c3e8489f42b6dcfa2c81571f869044f24f2aeb7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">to make new energy work for everyone<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As one of the UK\u2019s largest energy suppliers and infrastructure providers,\u00a0currently\u00a0serving\u00a0more than five\u00a0million households and\u00a0over\u00a0370,000 businesses,\u00a0E.ON\u2019s\u00a0work reaches far beyond energy bills and power networks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We are a leading\u00a0part of a broader national transition \u2013 one\u00a0requiring\u00a0not only\u00a0new technology\u00a0and cleaner infrastructure, but new skills, new pathways into work and a generation equipped to\u00a0participate\u00a0in a lower-carbon economy\u00a0which is already facing a major green skills deficit.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That transition will not be built solely in boardrooms,\u00a0universities\u00a0or laboratories.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It begins much earlier than that.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It begins in schools,\u00a0playgrounds\u00a0and community spaces where children first discover what they are capable of.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Over the past three years, the\u00a0Kids in Sport\u00a0initiative has travelled across the UK, combining sport with practical workshops in science, technology, sustainability, coding, communications and first aid. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Football drills sit alongside renewable energy challenges.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tennis coaching\u00a0with the likes of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mcas-proxyweb.mcas.ms\/certificate-checker?login=false&amp;originalUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fnews.eonenergy.com.mcas.ms%2Fnews%2Fe-on-next-partners-with-judy-murray-to-inspire-scottish-students-at-the-latest-kids-in-sport-event%3FMcasTsid%3D20892&amp;McasCSRF=d4f016d3da3d085e14040dce3c3e8489f42b6dcfa2c81571f869044f24f2aeb7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Judy Murray<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 pictured above and below at one of our latest Kids in Sport events in Scotland \u2013 shares space with STEM activities and training\u00a0for future job skills. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"gloo-img-center\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Children are introduced not only to the idea of\u00a0different\u00a0careers, but to the wider industries that support them \u2013 including engineering, sustainability, design,\u00a0technology\u00a0and communications.<\/p>\n<p>The principle behind the programme\u00a0could not be more\u00a0straightforward: children engage more deeply when learning feels active,\u00a0collaborative\u00a0and connected to the real world.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For example, at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mcas-proxyweb.mcas.ms\/certificate-checker?login=false&amp;originalUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fnews.eonenergy.com.mcas.ms%2Fnews%2Fat-to-publish-march-30-a-generation-powered-by-possibility-inside-e-on-nexts-latest-kids-in-sport-day%3FMcasTsid%3D20892&amp;McasCSRF=d4f016d3da3d085e14040dce3c3e8489f42b6dcfa2c81571f869044f24f2aeb7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">St Patrick\u2019s Primary School in Inverclyde earlier this year<\/a>, pupils\u00a0participated\u00a0in coding workshops, sustainability games and sports activities led by tennis coach\u202fJudy\u202fand her team.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In Birmingham, children at\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Leigh Primary School<\/a>\u00a0recently\u00a0combined football exercises with STEM learning, reaction\u00a0testing\u00a0and sports-kit design challenges.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">an event in\u00a0Coventry<\/a>\u00a0saw pupils explore sustainability simulations and coding labs inside the CBS Arena while learning about the role energy and technology play across modern sport.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"gloo-img-center\"\/><\/p>\n<p>At\u00a0E.ON, we are really committed to the need for investment in inclusive green skills and future careers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As Sport England\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mcas-proxyweb.mcas.ms\/certificate-checker?login=false&amp;originalUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportengland.org.mcas.ms%2Fnews-and-inspiration%2Fchildrens-activity-levels-rising-inactivity-remains-too-high%3FMcasTsid%3D20892&amp;McasCSRF=d4f016d3da3d085e14040dce3c3e8489f42b6dcfa2c81571f869044f24f2aeb7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2025\u00a0Active Lives Children and Young People Survey Report<\/a>\u00a0highlights, children from less affluent backgrounds\u00a0remain\u00a0less likely to be active, while girls continue to\u00a0participate\u00a0at lower rates than boys.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And more than half of children are still not active enough.<\/p>\n<p>Sport England\u00a0\u2013\u202fthe executive non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Culture,\u00a0Media\u00a0and Sport,\u00a0which\u00a0is\u00a0responsible for\u00a0developing grassroots sport and increasing activity levels across England\u00a0\u2013\u202fstates active children\u00a0demonstrate\u00a0higher resilience, stronger mental\u00a0wellbeing\u00a0and improved trust within communities.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The argument\u00a0here\u00a0is not that sport alone transforms lives. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It is that environments built around encouragement, inclusion and participation can alter how young people see themselves \u2013 and what they believe is possible\u00a0for their, and their\u00a0country\u2019s, future.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In an economy increasingly shaped by decarbonisation, digital\u00a0skills\u00a0and technological change, that belief\u00a0really\u00a0matters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
