Garuda Indonesia is modernising its core enterprise systems through RISE with SAP, covering key internal operations at Indonesia’s national flag carrier.<\/p>\n
The airline is integrating finance, procurement, supply chain and selected customer-related processes on SAP Cloud ERP Private, bringing together systems that had been fragmented across the business.<\/p>\n
As Garuda Indonesia works through a broader operational transformation, serving millions of passengers each year, this technology overhaul sits alongside efforts to restore fleet readiness and increase capacity.<\/p>\n
Core integration<\/p>\n
Under the project, the carrier is streamlining back-office functions, including record-to-report workflows, while adding embedded analytics and automation to give management a clearer view of operational performance.<\/p>\n
The changes include SAP Fiori-based digital interfaces for staff, with role-based access and revised workflows for day-to-day use across the organisation. The systems are being deployed in a private managed cloud environment designed to simplify IT operations and reduce system complexity.<\/p>\n
For airlines, internal technology systems underpin finance controls, procurement, maintenance planning and other operational processes. Updating them has become a priority for carriers trying to manage costs while dealing with shifting demand and higher customer expectations.<\/p>\n
Garuda Indonesia said the work is part of a wider push to strengthen internal processes through digital transformation.<\/p>\n

Airline operations<\/p>\n
SAP Indonesia said the project gives the airline a more unified operational base, highlighting the need for airlines to cope with rising operational complexity.<\/p>\n
“As airlines navigate growing operational complexity and rising customer expectations, a modern digital core is essential,” said Sianto Wongjoyo, Managing Director, SAP Indonesia.<\/p>\n
“By adopting SAP Cloud ERP Private through the RISE with SAP journey, Garuda Indonesia is building a strong foundation to streamline operations and enhance transparency. This positions the airline to advance toward a more autonomous enterprise, where AI-driven automation can support more efficient, adaptive operations and help the business respond to changing demand and market conditions.”<\/p>\n
The airline said the transformation is also expected to support maintenance and asset management as it continues work on fleet readiness. That links the back-office systems overhaul to day-to-day operational demands in an industry where aircraft availability, procurement efficiency and cost control are closely connected.<\/p>\n
Regional shift<\/p>\n
Garuda Indonesia has operated for more than seven decades as the country’s flag carrier and serves domestic and international destinations. Its recent focus has been on becoming a more agile and profitable company while maintaining partnerships and service links across the market.<\/p>\n
For SAP, the deal adds a prominent aviation customer in Southeast Asia as large companies in the region review older enterprise systems and shift core workloads to cloud-based models. Airlines have been among the more complex adopters because they must connect finance, supply chains, customer operations and maintenance activities across multiple business units.<\/p>\n
The project reflects a broader pattern in aviation, where digital modernisation is increasingly tied to operational discipline rather than only customer-facing services.
