The gay anti-violence project Maneo in Berlin\u2019s Sch\u00f6neberg district was once again the target of what appears to be a queer-phobic attack on Pentecost Monday. According to initial findings, an employee from the Berlin Police\u2019s Central Object Protection unit observed a damaged storefront window at around 8:30 p.m. at the organization\u2019s facility on B\u00fclowstra\u00dfe. The window had been damaged over a roughly five-by-five-centimeter area, presumably caused by a stone-throw.<\/p>\n
In addition, a second glass pane displayed a roughly 60 by 40 centimeter paint smear. The State Protection division of the State Criminal Police Office has taken over the investigation. This is standard practice in cases of suspected hate crime.<\/p>\n
Last year there had already been several assaults on Maneo\u2019s Berlin-Sch\u00f6neberg location. Windows and door frames of the organization\u2019s offices were targeted, damaged, and in some instances destroyed. The police at the time asked the public for assistance in clarifying the case (TheColu.mn reported).<\/p>\n
