HOCHTIEF, a German construction company, has secured a contract to design and expand a 26km segment of the East Link railway near Stockholm, Sweden.<\/p>\n
The project, in partnership with the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), carries an estimated value of up to approximately \u20ac900m ($1.04bn).<\/p>\n
Construction is expected to continue until 2034.<\/p>\n
The section, called OL31 Vagnh\u00e4rad, sits southwest of Stockholm and forms part of the planned 160km double-track East Link connection between J\u00e4rna and Link\u00f6ping.<\/p>\n
According to Trafikverket, the East Link is Sweden\u2019s largest infrastructure investment in recent history.<\/p>\n
The scope of work includes the design and construction of several tunnels, large bridges, and a train station.<\/p>\n

Besides the latest contract in Sweden, HOCHTIEF is also working on several high-speed rail projects internationally, including a section of the California High-Speed Rail in the US and the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project in Australia.<\/p>\n
