BIRMINGHAM, Mich. \u2014 Siemens has launched a workforce development initiative aimed at helping military veterans and transitioning service members move into manufacturing, automation and digital engineering careers as manufacturers continue struggling with skilled labor shortages.<\/p>\n

The new program, called Expedite for Vets, will provide up to 5,000 active-duty military personnel and veterans with free access to Siemens\u2019 Expedite \u2013 Skills for Industry microcredential program.<\/p>\n

The initiative reflects a growing effort by manufacturers to recruit workers from nontraditional talent pools as demand increases for employees with technical skills related to automation, digitalization and AI-enabled production systems.<\/p>\n

Siemens said the online program is designed to help veterans translate military experience into industry-recognized credentials focused on advanced manufacturing, automation, infrastructure and engineering applications.<\/p>\n

Unlike traditional degree programs, the microcredential is intended to be completed in weeks or months and emphasizes practical industrial skills rather than academic coursework.<\/p>\n

Siemens is partnering with Vets2PM, a Department of Defense SkillBridge provider, to connect with transitioning service members and veterans.<\/p>\n

The company said the program combines online training, mentorship and a pre-apprenticeship model designed to support entry into manufacturing and industrial careers.<\/p>\n

The initiative is part of Siemens\u2019 broader goal of helping train 200,000 electricians and manufacturing professionals by 2030.<\/p>\n

\u201cVeterans and transitioning service members bring technical experience, adaptability, discipline and mission focus\u2014qualities that are increasingly important in today\u2019s industrial workforce,\u201d said Cathy Miclat, director of career services at Vets2PM.<\/p>\n
