Systems (TKMS) to provide embedded software solutions for the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project (<a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2025\/08\/28\/canada-submarine-thyssenkrupp-hanwha\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">CPSP<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CPSP was launched in 2021 to <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2024\/07\/11\/canada-twelve-arctic-capable-submarines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">develop up to 12 new submarines<\/a> to replace Ottawa\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2024\/09\/30\/canada-victoria-class-submarines-replacement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Victoria-class diesel-electric platforms<\/a> operational since the 1990s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the agreement, QNX will deliver its proprietary <a href=\"https:\/\/qnx.software\/en\/software\/products-and-solutions\/qnx-general-embedded-development-platform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">General Embedded Development Platform<\/a> to serve as a \u201creal-time operating system\u201d for the vessels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The capability, described by QNX as \u201ctrusted foundational software,\u201d is expected to bolster the future fleet\u2019s cybersecurity while promoting interoperability with allied navies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs naval platforms become more software-defined, establishing a reliable and secure foundation is essential to delivering complex naval platforms across multiple long-term programs,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessnewswire.com\/newsroom\/en\/electronics-and-engineering\/qnx-and-tkms-collaborate-to-bring-canadian-software-innovation-to-globa-1157405\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">said<\/a> Dr. Jeronimo Dzaack, senior vice president at TKMS.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBy adopting QNX\u2019s General Embedded Development Platform, we are able to take advantage of a pre-certified, scalable platform that helps reduce development risk, streamline our go-to-market timeframes, and support innovation within future-ready naval architectures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">QNX said the agreement reflects deepening defense industry ties between Canada and Germany and supports Ottawa\u2019s updated Defence Industrial Strategy, which prioritizes exporting domestic innovation and reinforcing cooperation with foreign militaries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDefence platforms today are increasingly defined by the software that underpins their safety, security, and operational effectiveness,\u201d QNX President John Wall <a class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBy combining QNX\u2019s proven software with TKMS\u2019s naval expertise, we show how trusted, safety\u2011certified software built in Canada can scale globally and support the evolving needs of allied naval defence programs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Canada\u2019s latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pm.gc.ca\/en\/news\/news-releases\/2026\/02\/17\/prime-minister-carney-launches-canadas-first-defence-industrial\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Defence Industrial Strategy<\/a>, unveiled in February, outlines up to 180 billion Canadian dollars ($131.4 billion) in defense procurement opportunities over the next decade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That commitment includes an additional 290 billion Canadian dollars ($211.8 billion) in related capital investments, with an estimated 125 billion dollars ($91.2 billion) in economic benefits by 2035.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It also targets approximately 125,000 new jobs, a 50 percent increase in defense exports, raising the share of contracts awarded to Canadian firms to 70 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The policy aims to improve fleet readiness to 75 percent for maritime assets, 80 percent for land systems, and 85 percent for
