The Berlin Fire Department confirmed that a tram derailed on Wartenberger Stra\u00dfe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Fire officials informed the Berliner Morgenpost that the collision occurred at 9:29am on a bend shortly before the Arnimstra\u00dfe station. For reasons that remain unclear, the tram collided with an overhead power line pole, ripping apart one side of the carriage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In a post on social media platform X, Berlin police confirmed that the M5 tram had smashed into two poles. Officers stated that recovery and restoration efforts could span several days.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Police at the scene\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1_GERMANY-TRANSPORT-TRAMWAY-ACCIDENT.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p aria-label=\"Police at the scene\" class=\"ImageCaption_caption-title__ccyQU\" data-testid=\"caption-title\">Police at the scene(Image: AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">BVG boss Henrik Falk from Berlin&#8217;s transport operator reached the crash site shortly after 11 a.m. to assess the devastation personally, reports <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/news\/world\/2212443\/berlin-tram-crash-casualties\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">the Express<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">He commented: &#8220;We are deeply saddened by the images we have seen here. Our thoughts are with the injured and our passengers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;The cause of the accident still needs to be clarified.
